This week Johnson School students participated in a Mystery Skype session with another 4th grade classroom in the United States. The goal was to try to guess where the other classroom was located by asking yes/no questions. In order to participate we had to know questions to ask to narrow down their location as well as information about our own state so that we would be ready for any question posed. We had maps of the United States with us as well as iPads during the session to help us. We were able to guess that the other class was located in Illinois. The clue that helped us the most was that they were touching a Great Lake.

As part of an after school art class students are participating in community service by providing their time and talents to paint wooden stools that will be new seats in the computer lab. The students are working in partnerships to paint popular Apps on the stool face. Check out some of these works in progress.
Recently, Mrs. McCue and I teamed up her art activity students with my technology students to work on a photography project. The students worked in pairs to take photos, upload them to iPhoto, crop and edit, and export them for printing. Each student selected a favorite photograph that will be framed and auctioned off at the Art Walk at Johnson School on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. We were really impressed with the products. Below are a few of my favorites. Can you believe these were taken by fifth graders?
